In early 2023, I was humbled by an invitation to volunteer with the World Health Organization (WHO) to assist in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake. This call to action stirred something deep within me, propelling me to swiftly prepare for the monumental responsibility ahead. Understanding the gravity of the situation, I immediately immersed myself in studying and obtained certification from the Global Health Cluster. This vital knowledge allowed me to contribute effectively to emergency health responses, focusing on crisis management and recovery.
Guided by the expertise of my esteemed colleague, Dr. Caroline Clarinval from WHO, I deepened my understanding of emergency management. Her wisdom and support were invaluable, helping me navigate the complexities of disaster response on a global scale.
This experience not only reinforced my commitment to healthcare innovation and humanitarian efforts but also reminded me of the power of swift action, collaboration, and the importance of being prepared for any crisis. Each step reaffirmed my dedication to ensuring that healthcare reaches those who need it most, especially in moments of extreme vulnerability.
